Revel in the beauty of the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans

Day 1 – 4: Having gone through Johannesburg (where you might of had to spend a night), you’ll arrive in Maun, Botswana and you’ll be escorted through to catch you smaller plane before heading down towards Makgadikgadi Salt Pans. You are about to begin the adventure of a lifetime. After about 50 minutes in your ‘bush plane’ you will land in the Kalahari, you’ll be staying at Jacks Camp for the next 3 nights. Jack’s Camp is certainly one of the world’s most extreme desert vacation destinations. A visit here is something out of the ordinary. Set in what seems like the middle of nowhere along the awe-inspiring Ntwetwe Pan of Botswana’s Makgadikgadi Salt Pans, this incredible lodge is quite unique.

Why go on a safari to Makgadikgadi Salt Pans? This salt pan – with an area of 2,500 miles. Situated in the middle of the dry savanna of north-eastern Botswana and is one of the largest salt flats in the world. Off to the South West of the Okavango Delta and surrounded by the Kalahari Desert. The rains that transform the landscape attracts herds of zebra and wildebeest, and the looming predators that follow. Flamingos and migratory birds also arrive in their thousands and the desert comes alive. Jack’s Camp allows you to discover all this, and the ancient hunting ways and rituals of the Bushmen. Learn about a fascinating culture that is fast becoming extinct and marvel at how they live off the land and track animals.

Activities at Jacks Camp: Traditional safaris; Horse back safaris; Sleep out under the stars; Get up close and personal with our habituated meerkats; Walking Safaris.

Explore 80 000 acre private reserve around Duba Plains

Day 4 – 7: After 3 full days of adventuring in the desert, you will check out of Jacks Camp and head back towards the airstrip for a 90 minute flight to your next destination. In completely contrast to the landscape you’ve just been in, you will land in the water filled oasis of the Okavango Delta. Right in the heart of the ‘Delta,’ surrounded by floodplains and palm trees you’ll find the camp, Duba Plains. This small (consisting of 5 tents) safari lodge, encompasses 1920s African style. All the rooms are raised on recycled railway-sleeper decking and with stunning views of the surrounding floodplain and the steady stream of wildlife parading past. You will spend 3 nights here.

What makes the experience here so special? This lodge, which is set on an 80 000 acre private reserve and prides itself on the extraordinary wildlife experiences and intimate exposure to the best of the best wildlife, from lions and leopards to elephants, lechwe, buffalo and everything in between. You’ll be able to enjoy traditional type safaris on vehicles, and water permitting you’ll be able to enjoy this wildlife area from a boat or traditional mokoro.

Luxury in Chobe National Park

Day 7 – 9: After check out and a filling breakfast, you’ll fly towards Chobe National Park. Once you’ve arrived you’ll be met by your guide from Sanctuary Chobe Chilwero. This luxurious riverside retreat is on the edge of Chobe National Park, home to the world’s largest remaining population of elephants. Sitting above the Chobe River, the lodge offers unparalleled panoramic views across the islands and floodplains as far across as Namibia. This is an incredibly luxurious lodge with just 15 suites, you’ll be able to relax in the split-level swimming pool, unwind with a pampering session in the spa or enjoy the gourmet food that the lodge has become known for. All of these elements make this a wonderful spot to relax and unwind at the end of your Botswanan experience. We have planned for you to spend two nights here.

Whats makes Chobe unique? It’s the river!! The Chobe River is where the best, most varied sightings are, it’s home to the densest concentrations of game, especially in winter. As mentioned above, in the Chobe area there is the highest populations of elephants in the world. With so many different activities to choose from, traditional games drives; visits to Victoria Falls (90 mins drive each way); Sundowner cruise; Photographic boat cruise; and fishing.

Day 9: Two nights enjoying everything Chobe National Park has to offer, you have breakfast at the lodge and the head to Kasane and from there fly back to Johannesburg.
